The thing about diversity hires that nobody speaks about:
They are better.
It’s simple statistics. Groups that meet prejudice come pre-de-chaffed.
Every single applicant is likely to be better than your average privileged candidate, because your average privileged candidate is applying for a position they are not fully qualified for (that’s privilege for ya).Meanwhile, diversity candidates aren’t likely to apply for anything they are not 119% sure they can knock out of the park, simply because everything is an uphill battle for them.
